 Friday Fill In

1. I'm trying to be cleaver, I'm not succeeding, I think  it's to early in the day.

2. Why do I have blue eyes and not brown.

3. How does this cable box work, anyway?

4. Every morning, I put socks on my feet.

5. I consider myself lucky because I woke up this morning.

6. One day we’ll see a woman president.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to seeing my SO, tomorrow my plans include making a plan for the day and Sunday, I want to enjoy the time we have together no matter what we decide to do!

What's on your mind...

DSCN0296

America the new money eating monster. It seems the harder I work the less I have in the bank. I just don't get it. One day the bills are getting paid and there is a little left over. Today we are all working to pay off loans our country is making and wondering how we are going to pay our own bills. What happen ? It all started with us trying to get away from a country that was taxing it's people to death.

Here we are once more handing over our hard earn money to promote programs most of us will never use or wanted in the first place. How do we stop the bleeding???

Well I for one would like to be able to spend the money I make and not give up a large % for people that are to lazy to earn their own. Don't get me wrong, I understand there are those that are unable to work and need help. How many people are getting a chunk of the money that I worked hard to earn just because they think that taking a job that pays less is below their standards? In my book taking a job that puts money in your pocket is better then having your hand in someone else's pocket.

I know people are getting laid off every day, but I also know there are jobs to be found. I would hate to be looking for a job, but I would bust my butt, even if I had to scrub floors rather then sit back and expect others to take care of me. We need to learn to take care of our "NEEDS &  not our "WANTS".

Sure, I want a new car, but the one I have now runs fine. I want a larger screen Tv, but I can see the one I have now and it's paid for. I want to fly away on a nice vacation, but I can stay here and enjoy my family and my home and save $$$$. The "want's" in my life or not things that I really "need".

Unless we as a nation start taking care of ourselves instead of expecting others to take care of us we will not be leaving much to our children when we pass on.

And that my friends is  SIMPLY_ME  with something on her mind that she had to say. Wow I feel so much better now ! lol

Sleepless Nights

Baby Miles is home. Now the fun really starts. Daddy said Miles was up every hour all night long. Remember those days ??? He also said at 6am he was crying right alone with baby thinking "I'm never going to get to sleep again"! lol  MaMaw gave him a bottle, wrapped him up and he went to dreamland. Keep in mind this is easy to do when you are not required to stay up all night with baby !

DSCN0294

There is always a price to pay. Wait till the baby is older and borrows Dads car. Dad will have many sleepless night in the years to come. I sit here with a grin on my face because paybacks or finally here !! hahaha!

After a sleepless night, (one of many to come) daddy still had things to do. One was a much needed repair on a car. My SO flew in from Va to see the new baby and stepped in and help dad with the repair. Now I don't have to worry when they put this little angle in the car and head off.

DSCN0295

My son the now new father, just thought his life was full and busy. I expect he is a bit overwhelmed with all that has happened in the last few days. Knowing that someone is now counting on you to take care of them, love them and protect them is a big responsibility. One that he is up for, even after  many sleepless nights. Actually I think baby M couldn't have asked for a better Dad, but then I may be a bit short sighted after all it all started with me a long time ago !! LOL

A letter to my body..

Today I want to know what happen to the curves that use to slide into the small jeans ? When did you and I stop being friends ? You and I use to get along so well, now I take a look in the mirror and you are there sadly shaking your head. You know this doesn't set well with me!

You seem to think that a grandmother has a image to maintain and you and I disagree on that image. Is this your idea of a joke ? Where did these winkles come from ? One day I am wrinkle free and the next I am a grandmother  and "BAM" there they are. Why do you insists on making things hurt that I didn't even know I owned ? And what's up with the hair growing on my chin ewwwwwwwww ! You  are really pushing the wrong buttons with me.

What happen to the woman that use to be able to stay up all night ? Now she can't wait for the news to end so she can turn off the lights. We need to talk about all the things I use to be able to eat and not have to worry about what they were going to do to us. Now we spend the day in the bathroom or wish we could...you have so let me down !

Do you now laugh when someone refers to us as the "older woman and offers us the Sr price on a not so happy meal? I really think your sense of humor is out of line. What's up with the children telling us not to worry they will take care of us in the near future? Will depends be the next thing you share with me.... oh you and I will no longer be on speaking terms at the rate things are going ! They say friends stick together no matter what happens, but today I am thinking we may longer be friends. So be very careful at the next little surprise you have in store for me. Sad but true you and I have come a long ways together, but today I have decided that I need to pick my friends better!  Sign: Simply _ me

An Abused Emp..

Sometimes I wonder why I do what I do. Take this morning. After a long night at work I am getting ready to head home. One of the pt's comes in and yells at me telling me I am mean and spiteful. My replacement laughed as she walked out the door. The pt then comes back in and tells me it's not funny. I told her I didn't laugh and she started in on me again. I am wondering if she knew my children when they were teenagers ?  They called me names behind my back many times. The reason for this yelling spree, she was told that she needed to get out of bed and go get breakfast. Now I am feeling like the abused emp. Sigh.. She had been in the unit for 5 days and was getting a bit to comfortable. It was decided that she needed to go eat breakfast in the cafeteria like everyone else instead of having breakfast brought to her.  Opps sorry, some of you may not know that I work in a detox unit of a drug rehab.

Ya know I understand that these people need special care, but at some point they need to get with the program. Most are willing to jump in, but there are those that want to prolong it as long as possible. While I am driving  home I am thinking, where did I go wrong. I decide, I didn't go wrong. She did. She is the one with the problem and I am the one trying to help. Sometimes, it feels like I am trying to raise kids again. Tonight I will go back and she will be there. Will I get  a repeat performance, or will someone stept up and tell her to get with the program. Who knows, but I will go back because this is what I do. I know these people need help, even when they don't understand that the things we do, will help them to live a better life...

Sorry, this was on my mind and I had to put it on my "paper"!

Things That Are Passed On

I don't consider myself to be the smartest person in the world. But, in my defense, I have been around long enough to learn a thing or two which makes  me an expert in certain matters. Here's just a few of the things that my mother used to say to me that I have come to believe. If your mom was anything like mine, then you will probably  be able to identify as well.

I BELIEVE......
1. That you really can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear. You have to use worms.
2. That if you fall and break your neck.. you really shouldn't come running to me, grab the cell phone and call 911
3. That if you keep crossing your eyes they won't stick, you'll just looks funny for a moment
4. That if I told you once, I told you a thousand times cause I can't remember things now
5. That I do own my own place  and I can jump on the bed, leave the lights on, stay up late and eat junk food, but you can't.. it's my house

6. That I  really may have been born in barn. Not sure they had hospitals back then
7. That what goes around comes around. I raised 3 teenagers
8. That when your father gets home "you're going to get it" means that mom is ready to "take you out of this world" and leaving it to dad
9. That you really were doing it for my own good
10. That you can teach an old dog new ticks, but not a husband
11. That we never did go to bed "RIGHT NOW" until we heard you heading down the hallway
12. That money doesn't grow on trees because birds would crap on it
13. That I was both seen and heard when I was trying so hard not to be
14. That if you had slapped me into tomorrow that would be known as time travel

AND FINALLY.....I BELIEVE......
15. That  apples don't  fall too far from the tree unless it's a windy day
Well there you have it. My beliefs.....

My Little Rose Grows UP..

With a new baby arriving in 4 days.. count them 4 days ! It made me think of my last baby. Of course I am to old to be having babies, I am talking about my grand babies. The last to arrive was Sissy. Time flies, it's hard to believe she will be 4 next mo. (notice the 4 again, as in... 4 Days!)

I remember her Mama not being happy at all when she found out she was having another baby, because she had just had Trooper. Trooper was my 4th  ( there's the 4 again, giggling .. as in 4 days) grandson . The only saving grace in having another child so soon, was  that this time it was a girl ! This was the first and only grand daughter. Needless to say she is the "Little Rose w/ Thorns" in our family. Note: I didn't say horns cause after all she is "my" grand daughter. I laughingly say this because she gives all the boys a run for their money. She is a girly- girl by nature, but the boys can't seem to get one up on her no matter how they try. After all, she is the "baby" of the family ( for 4 more days.. sorry I had to say it ).  remembering back on this little bundle of "pink" I put together a picture.

Sissy grows up

As Sissy grows

I just love this picture of her and her daddy. My Little Rose is no longer a baby, and that brings me be back to  counting down the "4 days" until I am once again holding a small bundle wrapped in blue.

Is it not amazing how empty arms are once again filled with the birth of a child. My x mother - in - law once said "Having a grandchild is like having your own again," for once she got something right, only it's even better !  I hope you are bless with the love of children.. even the "teenage kind" lol.... My Maid is Blogging...

I was looking at a blog today and the captions was "What's On Your Desk?" There was a picture of a lovely desk and a list of things that were on the desk. I took a look at my desk and wanted to go hide somewhere.. ewwwwwwww It looks like a tornado hit it. So in order to get my desk clean up I should take a before and after picture and post it. I could simply lie to you and tell you everything is in order and live with the guilt. I really think the best thing to do is clean up the mess and have you all believe that I am a standard to follow !! "NOT"

Having said that, I will finish this post with a "post" clean desk and a list of what is left in the aftermath.... brb

DSCN0265

TA DA!!!

I have one lamp

A tiny, tiny coffee cup w/ my name on it

A phone w/vonage phone connector

An oil lamp w/ bath and body oils

Post it and a pen

One coaster, cause I normally have a soda on hand.

I have my desktop computer & speakers.

I have a wireless connector for my lap top (which is in the bag )

An incense burner

Last but not least my "Valentines Bear" that came with flowers.

I had a big desk that was solid oak, but it took up so much room that after a number of years I just downsized. So there ya have it "MY SPECIAL CORNER" So my question to you is, "What's on your desk?"

PS.. Maybe I should do the same for for the rest of the house.. like what's on your bathroom counter, your bed, your kitchen counter, your coffee table, your floors, your shelves. Ohhh the list grows longer. This truly makes you take a look around and realize that blogging may be what you enjoy, but cleaning can only be left to itself for so long. Did I tell you I have a maid, and that would be.. Simply_ me

Sailing Away..

About 18 mos ago I went on a 7 day cruise with my SO, his son and my son, (my second cruise). I am sitting here wishing I was sailing away once again. This is a slide show of the cruise. If you have never gone on one, you have missed out. I would pack a bag and head out on a moments notice. It's relaxing and great fun. You will find going on a cruise is reasonable. Remember, your floating hotel is paid for, all your food is paid for. You don't need a car, and you get to join in a lot of fun things, dancing in the evenings and fine dining that is paid in the price of the trip. You can just kick back and do nothing. Order room service if you are feeling lazy, it's paid for as well. Ports of call are exciting as you get to see places & things you have never seen before. You can shop till you drop ladies! Where do I sign up, I just talked myself into it once again...

Gifts from the heart

Copy (2) of Jewelry

While trying to come up with something, "special" for a Valentines blog, and driving to work, this came on the Radio. "Are you looking for that special gift for Valentine’s? Stop in at Young's Jewelry and Gun Shop. We will throw in a free box of ammo." I am not "pulling your leg," that is the name of a store here in town (only in Texas). Depending on how your honey feels about you on Valentines you might get a "pair of $ 99 stud earrings or a bullet. Scary huh ? If my guys shops there, I sure don't wanna piss him off in the next few days.

While I am thinking of Valentines Day here are a few more thoughts that crossed my mind. How many have been disappointed that your guy didn't get you what you wanted or forgot, or didn't seem to put any real thought into your gift. Come on admit it, we have all been there. Today a light went off in my head, and I am going to share it with you.

How do we measure love?

My guy hangs up a new ceiling fan in my bedroom because I needed one. He fixes the dryer so I don't have to take the laundry somewhere to dry. He put a new shelf in the bathroom because I asked him to. He checks under the hood of my car often and gets me new tires because he cares about my safety. He cooks me dinner now and then or takes me out to eat. He goes to see a movie that I pick because he knows it's what I really want to see. He gives me hugs when he knows I am upset. These are just a few of the gifts I have been given all year long. He doesn’t wait till Valentines Day to show me his love. He makes me laugh, smile and yes there are those moments when I want to go to "Young's Jewelry and Gun Shop", and not for stud earrings, but we hang in there! So go easy on those guys that don't seem to get the Valentine's thing. Look back and recall all that he does during the year and know that he does these things because he "Loves" you, not just on Valentines Day, but all year long. Grin & Hugs Simply_me

What a ride..

Just a quick post cause I am way past tired. I worked last night. I go into  work @ 6:30 pm and get off @ 7 am. As noted before, I work in the detox unit of a drug rehab. The old saying "Never A dull moment" applies.

I spent last night @ the ER with one of our pt's. She was in bad shape. After doing all we could do it was decided to send her to the ER. The Charge Nurse decided we would just get one of our drivers and take her there, instead of calling for someone to come and get her. I went  on a ride that lasted all night. While on our way there the pt decided she didn't want to be in the car. She was doing all she could to get out of a moving car. All I could do was hold on to her and pray that she didn't get the door open. I was picturing myself being unemployed if she jumped. Not a good prospect. To make a long story short, I was at the hospital all night with her. They decided to admit her, but when they found out that I would not be there to baby sit her if they did, they suddenly were without a room to put her in. This enabled them to make sure I stayed. It was a very long night of battling a pt that didn't know her name , much less where she was. The good news is that she won't remember a thing. With a little sleep I will also recover.. and now I am off to dreamland... Hugs & ZZZZzzzzz  Simply_me

Welcome Once Again

Well here it is the new blog. I hope you will return often and I will do my best to blog things that will catch your attention , cause you to laugh, ponder, and maybe even touch your hearts at times.

Today I am headed to the church for the long awaited baby shower. A lot of work has gone into it and I hope everyone has a good time. Just think, in 11 days I will be holding the new grandson that is the reason for all this fuss.

I am taking my camera so you know there will be pictures to post later. I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend..

Till we meet again... Hugs & Grins   Simply_me
